The Economist debate on human rights and development

On Thursday (13 October) the Economist newspaper is holding a debate in conjunction with the London School of Economics on "Respect for human rights is essential to economic development".
The speakers are Phil Bloomer, director of Oxfam's Campaigns and Policy Division; Alex Singleton, president of the Globalisation Institute; Professor Shujie Yao, executive director of the Chinese Economic Association; and His Excellency Mr Isaac Osei, Ghana's High Commissioner to the UK. The event will be chaired by Edward Lucas, Central and Eastern Europe correspondent at the Economist.
The event is free, however seats are limited so please arrive early to avoid disappointment. The debate will take place at The Old Theatre, Old Building, LSE, London WC2A 2AE, from 6:30pm.
