"Sometimes, those who talk about climate change sound like it is all doom and gloom, that it is catastrophe and that it is going to cost us, we are going to have to live like monks in order to deal with this issue. What I am trying to do is recapture this issue from those people and say actually making a greener, cleaner planet for ourselves to live in and our children to inherit there are a lot of positive things there. If we do drive cars that pollute less that is good for the environment today as well as for the future, if we actually try and save energy in our homes then that is good for the planet and the future but it actually saves our electricity bills today but, I wouldn’t say there are no tough choices to make, of course there are. We are going to have to take difficult decisions over issues like how we price carbon and over taxation, no doubt there are difficult decisions but let’s not be gloomy and downbeat about this. We should be upbeat and optimistic about what we can all do together to actually make the planet a better place to live." - David Cameron MP |
